Who you are ? One(1) or Zero(0)

The following is a conversation between me a computer geek and a spiritual guru my wife Padhmawoti:

Me: What is Spirituality?

Guru: Spirituality teaches that all beings are one. It has a universal slogan for oneness. Every thing is one or single.

Me: What does that mean ?

Guru: It means that animals and all other non-human creatures are as good as human beings. The basic idea is that spiritual concept implies that whole universe is my family and that all beings are One or Single. Therefore it teaches us to be humble and not feign arrogance arising out of power or intellect.

Me: But if all beings are One or Single, where does God fit in?

Guru: From the background study of many spiritual gurus and readings myriad literature, one can realize that Supreme Being, is essentially a state of 0 (Zero) and the state where one has zero(0) desires.

Me: Speaking Spirituality what is the ultimate aim of my life ?

Guru: Spirituality, the ultimate aim of a human being's life is to transform himself from the state of one to that of zero.

Me: How is religiosity different from spirituality?

Guru: Religiosity, on the other hand, describes human beings as zero. Listen to the religious discourses and you shall often hear that We are, every one of us, each of the entity that is present in earth, nothing but a minuscule part of GOD. In plain English, it means, without GOD, one is nothing or zero(0).

Me: if all beings are zero(0), where does GOD fit in religiosity ?

Guru: Religiosity preaches that GOD, a higher being is the state of Oneness-close to your self where all is one and the same. Remember, Sai Baba said, "God is One".

Me: Now, religiously speaking, what is the final aim of my life?

Guru: Religiosity preaches that ultimate aim of human being's life is to transform from a state of zero(0) to that of one(1).

Me: Thanks. You cleared my confusion-dear wife.

Guru: What do you consider yourself to be:spiritual or religious ?

Me:[Scratches his head] Will Google answer the question?

Guru: Good God, it doesn't else, I will be out of job.

Me: My "brain disk" has crashed, could you help me Guruji ?

Guru: Sure. Just ask yourself; Do you consider yourself one or zero ?

Me: I am bit of both-One and Zero.

Guru: Well, that means you are 10, which is binary code for 2, and that is duality of this world!

Me: I don't understand what is duality.

Wife as Guru: It means that this world needs both one and zero, signifying that opposites coexist. We need spirituality and religiosity, only when one and zero come together they make the world a beautiful place. In essence, the world is nothing but a manifestation of various combination of zero and one. See the world, See the Nature and Listen to yourself you will always- get the best answer.

100 years of aloneness

Last night, I had a dream I saw myself being alone in lonely island walking like mad person searching something, looking for the love he had in his life, searching for her to see and get a glimpse of her.

It really scared hell out of him. He realized later that it isn't a problem unless it is really a problem. He now tries different things to forget that he really is alone, slowly in my dream I fishing at the same time being myself confused shout loudly but no one listen to his shout. He finally realizes the fact that- the journey that he has made to this desert or island is the greatest journey that he made to find the love.

"Sometimes greatest journey people travel is the distance between people". He laughs, with the loneliness and realizes that it is just opposite of his aloneness which is teaching him the lessons of eternal love.

We feel inconvenient when we are alone because we don't know who we are. With the other, things are clear, defined. We know the name, we know the form, we know the person - Hindu, Christian, Indian, and American - there are some ways to define the other. How to define yourself? Have you ever realized to define who you are? The greatest difficulties people find is to know them.

One day my wife Padhmawoti said to me, "Beware of Buddha, if you meet him on the way avoids him immediately". I was surprised by her answer and asked, "What do they mean"? I mean there is a human tendency to become imitators. People are trying to imitate, to become somebody else. Nobody can become a Christ or Buddha. There is no need. Existence will be bored if you become Christ. It wants somebody new, something original. It wants you, and it wants you to be just yourself. Deep down there is an abyss - emptiness beyond definition. You start merging into that. It creates fear. You become frightened. You want to rush towards the other. The other helps you to remain out.

When there is nobody you are simply left with your emptiness. Nobody wants to be alone. The greatest fear in the world is to be left alone. People do a thousand and one things just not to be left alone. You imitate your neighbors so you are just like them. You lose your individuality, you lose your uniqueness, and you just become imitators because otherwise you will be left alone. You become part of a crowd, a church, an organization.

Somehow you want to merge with a crowd where you can feel at ease, so that you are not alone. To be alone is really the greatest miracle. That means now you don't belong to any church or organization, you don't belong to any theology or ideology - socialist, communist, fascist, Hindu, Christian, Jain, Buddhist - you don't belong, you simply are. And you have learnt how to love your indefinable, ineffable reality. You have come to know how to be with yourself. Aloneness is the first lesson of Love. Loneliness is absence of the other.

Aloneness is very positive. It is an overflowing presence. You are so full of presence that there is no need for anybody else. Even if the whole world disappears, he will love that tremendous emptiness, this pure infinity. This does not mean that a man who has become enlightened and has come home does not live with others. In fact, only he is capable of being with others.

Because he is capable of being with himself he becomes capable of being with others. If you are not capable of being with yourself, how can you be capable of being with others? A man who loves his aloneness is capable of love, and a man who feels lonely is incapable of love.

A man who is happy with himself is full of love, flowing. He is ready to give; he is full of stories like a write with unlimited stories, like the poet with unlimited poem, like a cloud with many different patterns every day. He does not need any body's love, hence he can give. When you are in need how you can give? It is a natural response. The first lesson of love is to learn how to be alone. Try it, to have the feel. Just sit alone sometimes. The process of starting any work is the process of understanding first that I have to start.

That's what meditation is all about - just sitting alone, doing nothing? If you start feeling lonely then there is something missing in your being, then you have been unable yet to understand who you are. Then go deeper into this loneliness until you come to a layer when suddenly loneliness transforms itself into aloneness. Loneliness is the negative aspect of aloneness.

If you go deeper into it, one moment is bound to come when suddenly you will start feeling the positive aspect of it because both aspects are always together. If I were to live for 100 years, I would like to live alone with my heart full of love with the desire of understanding my love, and learning lessons of love, giving all that I have learnt to others with the ineffable reality.

Hay Amores

Lyrice
-------

Oh my love! I’d do anything for you
to have you for a second, far away from the world
and close to me
Oh my love! Just like the Magdalena river
which merges into the sea sand,
I want to be one with you.

There are loves which become resistant to any damage,
just like wine improves its quality throughout the years,
in that same way my feelings for you grow ever stronger

There are loves which wait for the winter to bloom
and in the autumn evenings turn green again,
just like the love I feel for you.

Oh my love! Don’t forget the sea,
which has seen me crying at night
over all those memories I’ve got of you
Oh my love! Don’t forget the day
which separated your life
from this poor life of mine

There are loves which become resistant to any damage,
just like wine improves its quality throughout the years,
in that same way my feelings for you grow ever stronger

There are loves which seem to reach an end but then bloom
and in the autumn evenings turn green again,
just like the love I feel for you
I feel for you.. for you.. like the love I feel for you.

New Nepali Year 2065-Yes we can change.

New year is an event that happens when culture celebrates the end of one year and beginning of next year. Nepal's high-mountain people use yet another calendar, derived from the Tibetan and Chinese calendars, with its New Year falling in mid-February. The Nepal Sambat will not vanish. More than 400 years after Europe adopted the Gregorian calendar, Easter is still scheduled by a far older lunar calendar. The same will be true in Nepal: major holidays will remain tied to NS dates, and new year festivities will occur in fall, winter and spring.

Change is to add, make something different in different way by different means. Change is concerned with action. Change in our country have been observed though by stepping down the autocratic rule of King. Yes we can change. It seems that this new year 2065 we are doing something different totally different. It is good for adaptability in new environment. This time around everybody is severely waiting for the results of constituency assembly election results. Maoist, Nepali Congress, Forum and many more supporters are eagerly waiting with patience about the result which will decide to write a new constituency in Nepal. In 1999 the Nepal government declared that citizen, Shankhadhar Shakhwaa, a national hero. Who is going to be declared a national hero this New year ?.

We all want peace: peace of mind, peace in the family and community, between countries, peace with our environment. There is scarcely anyone who does not yearn for peace. One day, My wife asked a very good question that, "how many of us are prepared to pay the price of peace?" We need to love each other; have compassion and be prepared to sacrifice for one another and work for togetherness and peace. Love and peace will see all people united by the bonds of brotherhood, moving onward and forward. She also greatly visualizes what I am unexpectedly seeing today. She said religion and politics will be similar in coming days in Nepal. We only speak of politics and religion; we do not bear witness to it in deeds of daily living, to the teachings of the great prophets, it is life that is needed, not words. we may recite prayers, like reciting of "vote for me, my party" , chant hymns and sing songs of praise; you may read from the scriptures and frequent places of worship but if you do not imbibe at least some of the wisdom, as we often neglect in our Nepali Politics, are we any better than a tape recorder? We may write wonderful commentaries on the building new Nepal similar to Switzerland or some holy scriptures in religion or any other world scriptures, but if you do not reflect the wisdom of these scriptures in word and action, how are we any better than a desktop printer? For the better political situation in our country we ought not to be kept out of this vision.

One day a friend ask me that "Do you believe Nepal is going to change from New Year 2065 ?" I said, “Yes we can”. We can change and we will change; we enjoy the advantage of change, we like our country and its leaders, men, workers, student, engineer, scientist and each one of to contribute for the well being of country and society. Just to bring the change. One should believe that, “we ourselves are responsible for our sufferings. Changes should be brought about within ourselves; once we are changed definitely our country will change.” Life is very simple and straight forward in our country may be that is because of the nature and climate Nepali's are sharing with world. It is not the muscles that are strong; it is the heart and mind that should be strong. We Nepali people are born with strong heart and mind, may be it is because of the environment and climate. Yes definitely from this new year onwards, we are can really feel, hear, see, smell and listen change.

“E should not stand for excuses but E should stands for efforts”. One example is worth thousand theories, we should set and example to world. we need to go by firmly believing in what I would suggest is “doing”. Or more precisely, add “ing” in the verb like do, learn, walk, talk, watch, contribute, fight so on. If we learn to live in present we will know we are changing ourselves, our society, our country and to some extent the entire world. By the informal observation it is seen mainly in yongsters in our country that we are more talking unlike talking to make useless useful therefore I would conclude by saying that this New Year 2065 Let us improve ourselves, by this quote-“Just speak less and do more.”
